Can my prank call be traced?

Here’s the situation:
I prank called the Hampton Inn’s customer service number with my cell phone using an Arnold Schwartzennager soundboard from my mobile phone NOT using *67. About 1 minute 20 seconds into the call I heard a computerized voice say something about AT&T tracking the call. I hung up right after that. I don’t think the customer service rep knew it was a prank call until about 20-30 seconds into the call. The call was 1 minunte 23 seconds total. Please don’t say I shouldn’t prank call. This incident scared the crap out of me. I have learned my lesson and will never prank call again. Did they fully trace the call, or did the voice signify the start of tracing. Will I be caught and if so, what will happen? I’ve only done this once.

However they are probably going to let you off and move on.
If they haven’t done something already, you’re pretty much safe, they probably think it was just some teenagers being teenagers and will ignore it unless you made threats or were spilling confidential information, or something along those lines.

Paul B November 21, 2010 at 1:29 am: Yes. your call could be traced. Here’s the deal though. Most of the time when people get harrassing or threatening calls, you notify the phone company. If the calls continue to keep coming and they tend to be threatening, they will record the number from which they came from and will turn them over to the police. If you only made one call and the call was not threatening, I would not give it alot of concern. However, the prank calls is childish and you should not be making them in the first place. If you don’t make them, you don’t have anything to worry about. Stop.
