We all hate those calls. We typically get them at the most inopportune time. Telemarketers, debt collectors, wrong phone numbers, and other unwanted callers who call without sufficient informationi on their callerID. Or possibly, you get a call that doesn’t leave a message and the caller-id isn’t sufficient. Typically caller-id will have a phone number but the name portion will say “private”, “unknown”, or “out of area”.
There are three key ways you can lookup an unknown phone number to find out who called you.
Call the Number Back: Definitely less preferred but this will often work. You can call the number and see who answers, you don’t even need to say anything. Or you can even say, hi, this is xxx and you called me a while ago. Is there anything I can help you with?
Search on the Internet: This option works sometimes, however you may not get the best results. You can type the number into a google search and see many answers come back on who is calling. The bad part of this solution is that many of the answers may be outdated. Online phone books don’t update nearly as often as we would like them to.
Use a Reverse Lookup Phone Directory: I bookmark the best sites and go directly to them. If you find a good reverse lookup phone directory, you can lookup an unknown phone number and find out who is calling you. Many of these databases are updated by users like you who also post their experiences with the caller.

Write down the date and time the person calls. When you get you bill where it lists all of your calls, the number will show up there. You might have to get your statement online as many wireless companies do not mail these lists anymore to save paper.
