cann bell canada, our phone service provider trace this last call?
we got a call claimiming we owe money for advertising but we neveer advertise snce were jsut a small family restaurant in a town so no sense of advertsiing especially on the web.
can bell trace the last call and get the phone numbeR?

Yes, however without a subpoena, not really. There is no point getting a subpoena because it might have been a wrong number or a telemarketer. If you are on a list where telemarketers cannot call you, and you are sure they are a telemarketer, you can actually get money from them. If you are on that list and it was not a telemarketer, and they have some sort of connection with you, you cannot get anything out of them, nor can you get them in trouble with the law.

You can add this to your list of calls that can be ignored. If you legitimately owed money to any supplier of advertising or any other supplier to your business, you’d have a statement or invoice from them. If you don’t, then the phone call is just a waste of your time and whoever is calling.

The best way to deal with obscene or harassing calls is to hang up. If calls persist, you may wish to screen out unwanted calls by using the Call Screen service.
To use Call Screen service, dial *60, and follow the voice prompts to block a certain phone number.
If calls persist and are threatening, you may wish to trace the caller’s telephone number using Call Trace service. Call Trace service will work on blocked numbers.
How to use Call Trace service:
Hang up after receiving the threatening or harassing call. Lift the receiver and press *57 (or dial 1157 on rotary phones). A voice announcement will tell you whether the call was traced successfully. Hang up.
It should be used only in serious situations, when you wish to take legal action against the caller. If you are receiving many harassing or threatening calls and use Call Trace service, you should be prepared to contact the police and have the caller charged. Bell will release the traced number only on presentation of proper legal authorization and only to the police.
There is a charge of per line for each use of Call Trace service, with a monthly maximum of per line. You pay only if the number is traced successfully. However, you pay for the trace whether or not the number is requested by the police. Using Call Trace service does not guarantee that the police will accept your case or follow up on a Call Trace request.
This service is available to individual-line residential and business customers only.
